Pitch Builder
Wow the crowd! Create a simple pitch that makes people want to buy
What's a Pitch?
A short, exciting explanation of your business
A pitch is a short speech that explains your business idea in a way that gets people excited. The goal is to make someone think: "That's brilliant! Tell me more!"
A good pitch has 5 parts-let's see how they work together.
Example: ReBottle
Here's a 1-minute pitch for ReBottle-customisable reusable water bottles for kids:
"Did you know that kids throw away over 2 million plastic water bottles every day at school?"
"Most kids use single-use plastic bottles that end up in landfills, harming our planet."
"I created ReBottle - cool, customisable water bottles that make reusing fun!"
"As someone who loves the environment AND art, I designed bottles that kids actually want to use."
"I'm looking for my first 100 customers. Will you help me save the planet, one bottle at a time?"

How to use Pitch Builder
Pitch Builder is a practical business activity for Pioneers (9-11). It helps young people work on pitching & presenting by making something useful, rather than only reading about the subject. Wow the crowd! Create a simple pitch that makes people want to buy. The activity takes about 20 minutes, although it is fine to pause, discuss an answer and come back later.
Start with a real idea, even if it is rough. A cake stall, dog-walking service, craft product or digital project is easier to think about than an imaginary company. Work through the tool one question at a time and use short, honest answers. There is no need to make the idea sound impressive. The useful part is noticing what is clear, what still needs thought and what could be tested with a real customer.
What to do with your result
When the first version is finished, read it back aloud and choose one thing to improve. That might mean checking a price, asking someone what they would buy, making the offer easier to explain or reducing the cost of a first test. Save or photograph the result if the tool offers an export, then try the related activity below. Small changes based on evidence are more valuable than trying to make a perfect plan at the first attempt.
For parents and educators
Parents and educators can help by asking simple questions instead of supplying the answers: Who is this for? What problem does it solve? What would it cost? How could you test it safely? Let the young person make the final choices. The aim is to build confidence and judgement, not to produce adult-level work. You can use it free without creating an account.
