Last updated: March 2026
1. Who we are
We Can Be is a UK-based social enterprise ("we", "us", "our") committed to building confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking in girls aged 6–18. Our registered address is in the United Kingdom. For any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@wecanbe.co.uk.
2. What data we collect
We may collect the following information:
- Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Child profiles: Display name and age group (we do not collect children's real names or dates of birth directly).
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, learning progress, and device/browser information.
- Contact information: Name, email, and message content when you contact us.
- Newsletter subscriptions: Email address when you subscribe to our updates.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve our educational platform, tools, and courses.
- Track learning progress and personalise the experience.
- Respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
- Send newsletters and updates (only with your consent).
- Ensure the security of our platform.
3a. AI chat and email tracking
When you use our AI helpers (the site guide and Blaze, our business coach), we store a copy of the questions asked so we can see what people need help with and improve the site. We do not store the AI's replies. Before saving, we automatically strip out email addresses, phone numbers, web links and long number sequences, and we delete these questions after 90 days. Our emails include a small tracking image and tracked links so we can see which emails are opened and which links are useful - you can stop this at any time by turning off images in your email app or unsubscribing.
4. Children's privacy
We take children's privacy seriously. Child profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian. Our AI tools do not collect personal data from children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without consent, please contact us immediately.
5. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
We process your data under the following lawful bases:
- Contract: To provide the services you've signed up for.
- Consent: For marketing communications and newsletter subscriptions.
- Legitimate interest: To improve our platform and understand how it's used.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate our platform (e.g. hosting, email delivery, analytics). All providers are bound by data processing agreements and comply with UK GDPR requirements.
7. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
9. Cookies
We use cookies to make our platform work and to understand how visitors use our site. When you first visit, you'll be asked to accept or reject non-essential cookies.

10. Changes to this policy
