Built to show girls what is possible. Open to everyone.

We Can Be exists because too many young people grow up without seeing entrepreneurship as something that could be for them - especially girls.

So we put brilliant female founders front and centre. But whoever you are, if you are curious about ideas, money, creativity or making things happen, you are welcome here.

What young people ask us most

Business, money and starting young in the UK

Can a child start a business in the UK?

Yes. There is no minimum age to sell something in the UK, but under 18s cannot sign contracts or register as a sole trader on their own, so a parent handles anything official and money usually sits in a parent-linked or junior account. In practice a 9 year old can run a bake sale or a card stall this weekend, and a 16 year old can trade properly with a parent named on the paperwork.

See the age tracks

What business can a 12 year old start with no money?

The ones that sell time or skill rather than stock: tutoring a younger pupil, dog walking, garden tidying, social media posts for a local shop, or print-on-demand designs where nothing is made until it sells. Each of these needs zero upfront cash and teaches pricing, repeat customers and delivering on a promise.

How do kids learn about money and business in the UK?

Best by doing something small and real, not by reading theory. Our courses are mapped to UK key stages - 9-11 is KS2, 12-14 is KS3, 15-18 covers GCSE to sixth form - and every example uses pounds, UK customers and UK founders, so it lines up with enterprise, PSHE, careers and business studies rather than an American curriculum.
